Three competition entries ProPolis, Houapowa and Negawatti were developed further in a co-design workshop 26.9.2012 in Vaasa, Finland. Participants included designers, researchers, innovators and companies such as Vaasan Sähkö Oy.
The goal was to develop the competition ideas further and to create feasible business concepts using design methods. The strengths of these service visions can be described with the quotations of the competition jury below:
“A nice combination of energy efficiency and consumer marketing approaches”
“Great community-based idea”
The challenge of making use of these in a real life business or community setting however still prevails.
Design Thinking Pilot (DTP) initiative is part of the World Design Capital Helsinki 2012 programme. The objective is to showcase ways our environment can be developed through design and create opportunities for new business and innovations. DTP wants to thank everyone who made piloting this new service development model possible.
